I’m absolutely thrilled to announce that my book, WA IS WATER, won a Gold Medal from Independent Publisher. This is the same group that awarded a Moonbeam Gold and Bronze for two of my pop-up books.

Conducted annually, the Independent Publisher Book Awards honor the year’s best independently published titles from around the world. The awards are intended to bring increased recognition to the thousands of exemplary independent, university, and self-published titles published each year. – Independent Publisher

WA IS WATER won in the regional, nonfiction eBook category. This is the first eBook I’ve ever designed. It was a challenge organizing 48 poems, 70+photos and facts about Washington State into a single cohesive project. It took about 6 months and I learned a lot during the process about content and layout. There were nights of utter despair, moments of triumph and often a sense of being overwhelmed. Winning the Gold IPPY Award makes me so happy that I kept at it until I was satisfied. Thank you, Independent Publisher!
