Mother tenderly holding her child sculpture. Style and subject influenced by leading Modernist Mexican sculptors like artists Diego Rivera, Francisco Zuniga and Armando Amaya (Zuniga's student). This work is also reminiscent of Art Deco artist Enrique Alferez (Mexican/Louisiana, 1901-1999).

Recalls the Mexican aesthetics movement known as Escuela Mexicana de Escultura or Mexican School of Sculpture. For more information, visit the Latino Arts Project, Mexican Modern Sculpture: A Study of the Artists.
