Art Procurement
What is Art Procurement?
I locate and purchase art, antiques and vintage goods from a variety of sources to supply independent buyers, non-profits and service organizations with quality items for auctions, galas and fundraisers.
How Does it Work?
I spend hours searching for unique collectible items at thrift shops, vintage stores, estate sales and auctions. After making a purchase, I either transport the item or it is shipped and delivered to my home where I begin to evaluate the piece.
I start with cleaning and repairing small defects, if necessary. Then I start the process of researching the history, significance and fair market value (FMV).
After taking photos and writing a report on the object, the final step is to offer it for sale or deliver the item to a charity and where they handle the rest.
Why is Out on a Whim Different?
Unlike international art house auctions, I operate independently, sourcing goods for local organizations.
I use my skills as an experienced buyer and artist to offer context to each piece. My degree in Art History from UC Berkeley allows me to offer a broad professional perspective.
I donate a percentage of earnings, so buyers are both supporting a small, independently-owned business and also exceptional nonprofits.
