stuff & stuffs

  1. Bullet favorite things: reading, gardening, cooking, eating baked goods, performing (mental) gymnastics, cognitive science, linguistics, tea (both iced and hot), eliminating evil garden gnomes, British murder mysteries, and bellydancing.

(Sometimes I combine these and pay the consequence in the morning.)

Free cupcakes! No. Not really. Just some tweets.

  1. Bullet INteresting tidbits

  2. Bullet I like salt. And garlic. Lots and lots of garlic.

  3. Bullet If I HAD to choose, I'd rather eat steak than chocolate cake. Usually.

  4. Bullet While doing genealogical research I discovered that: my family arrived in Massachusetts in 1635, relatives were accused of witchcraft during the Salem Witch Trials (several were hung), and at least two ancestors fought in the Revolutionary War.

  5. Bullet Much to the dismay of my family, I have been known to climb trees wearing inappropriate shoes and prune with a chainsaw.

  6. Bullet [My extra special secret (E.S.S.): a family legend. My grandfather was an engineer and worked for NASA. He made computer boards for a special mission, a mission to the moon! The computer boards were used in the astronauts’ life packs and on the Moon Rover. What's extra special about this secret is that he made the boards into the shape of his initials, J.P., which are also my initials. Since they left the Rover on the moon, the initials are still there. Anyone who has the initials "JP" can say that their name is on the moon!

  1. Bullet favorite QUOTES:

The best moments in reading are when you come across something - a thought, a feeling, a way of looking at things - which you thought special and particular to you. Now here it is, set down by someone else, a person you never met, someone who even is long dead. And it is as if a hand has come out and taken yours."  The History Boys, a play by Alan Bennett

"Friendship is born at that moment when one person says to another, 'What! You too? I thought I was the only one.' " C.S. Lewis
